The Neolithic Counter-Revolution

Founded In late 2010, Common gardens has slowly grown into a small farm and rural retreat. The land was originally stewarded by the Sauk and fox first nations, and perhaps others we have yet to learn about. The land was homesteaded in the mid 1800's by the family who still lives near the top of the driveway. After three generations the changing farm economy forced consolidations and the land changed hands three times before being purchased by The current owners, the Vollrath family in 1986. Left relatively un-managed for 25 years, substantial improvements to infrastructure have enabled a growing economy, producing products and services enjoyed by Madisonians and visitors from all over the world.
